Okay, I got the first layer out of the pan with no problem. Second layer? Fell apart on my hand. So, one broken layer, one whole layer. I wound up frosting the first layer anyway.
The verdict was: great cake, great frosting. Great together. Even when I screw up I do all right. At least when it comes to baking.
I'd already put out butter for two layers' worth of frosting, so the frosting turned out extra rich. Nobody complained.
I wish I could relax.
