Who likes wombats?
Aug. 1st, 2007 11:35 pmStill no computer to use on my own. Actually, most of it is here, but no-one will help me get it out of the damned box.
I may have mentioned that my grandmother's house is to be sold. Most of it had been picked over when I got to look around for stuff I wanted that did not involve books. That's pretty much okay with me, though--the whole thing is somehow more creepy because she's still alive.
Anyway, I picked out a set of glasses that are both pretty and tacky. I really love these things. In spite of my tendency to drop things, I want to use them every day in my own place.. someday.
I also got some kitchen stuff--pots and a few utensils, plus a sifter. Never had a sifter. Also in the kitchen, cookbooks and loose recipes. There was just a stack in one cupboard, plus two small card files and one big card file.
My cousin Dierdre is getting all the fancy dishes and stuff.
I also got the set of junior encyclopedias from 1949. I really love old reference books and am not sure why.
The most important things all fit in one box: pictures and letters. Found old pictures, including tiny black and white polaroids, of my father and his brothers. Even one of HIS father, who died when he was 16.
Found photos of Steve and me when we were little, plus letters from our mother. I wouldn't have found the letters if I hadn't decided to go through one last envelope of greeting cards.
Steve and I were adorable. I will share some photos if I can, later.
Love you.
