One year (I think it was my first Halloween in public school since kindergarten) I wanted to dress up as Princess Leia. Only my father couldn't do the side-bun things she sports, so he put my hair in pigtails. And I didn't have a long white dress so I wore this short striped thing with a green skirt. "Use your imagination," he said.

Well, that was no problem for me, but the other kids weren't buying it. The next year I went with the plastic-mask-and-tunic-box option.
