This is in the oven:
Gingerbread
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter (softened--put it in the bowl ahead of time, cut into chunks)
2 eggs
1/4 cup molasses
1 1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup hot water (boil some water before you start mixing and let it sit until you need it)
Preheat oven to 350º F.
Cream together the brown sugar and softened butter. Beat in the molasses, then the eggs, one at a time. Mix in the dry ingredients. Add hot water in small amounts, mixing well after each addition. Pour into greased, floured square pan. bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
The batter tastes great.
