People think poems are about things.
They say, "Look at this! You could write
a poem about it" or "You write poems?
What about?" (Do you suffer from poetry
of the trees? Have you had any good
psychological nuances lately? Did you
major in broad social issues with a
minor in angst?) No one ever says,
"Look at this! You could bring it up
at the dinner table" or "You talk
on telephones? What about?" or
"You're alive? What about?"
Here's a poem. Why don't I
write it down.
